| Infant Adoption Training Initiative Lutheran Family and Children’s Services of Missouri is offering free trainings on Infant Adoption to health care providers and helping professionals who work at Title X and PHS Section 330 grant funded health facilities as well as public or private nonprofit health centers that provide health services to pregnant women and teens. The Infant Adoption Training Initiative is a program of Spaulding for Children and is funded by a grant from the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
The Understanding Infant Adoption (UIA) curriculum is based on the belief that when experiencing an unintended pregnancy, women should be provided information and counseling in a nondirective, non-coercive manner in order to make an informed decision. The UIA provides participants with opportunities for self-reflection and open discussion about the issues that women facing unintended pregnancies experience.
Additionally, participants will receive free CEUs, a light breakfast, snack and/or lunch, a comprehensive manual and a resource guide of different service providers available in their areas. Understanding the different resources available for pregnancy counseling and adoption services is an important tool to make informed referrals consistent with client/patient needs and preferences.
The goal of this training is to provide education regarding adoption law and practice in your state, birthfather’s rights and responsibilities, special issues in counseling teens, nondirective, noncoercive counseling techniques and much, much more. Trainings may be held at your facility or at another centrally located site.
You may visit our website at www.IAATP.com for information about the trainings we offer.
