Hormonal Contraception Does Not Increase Risk for HIV, Study Finds

In the largest study of its kind, researchers announced yesterday that hormonal contraception does not appear to increase the risk for women of contracting HIV.

More than 100 million women around the world use hormonal contraception. Because more than 18 million women have been infected with the virus, mostly through heterosexual activity, researchers sought to know if using methods such as "the Pill" increase the risk of exposure to the virus.
