Study Finds Pap Tests Still a Mystery to Many Women

A study published in the June 2005 issue of Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health finds that a lack of adequate knowledge about Pap tests may discourage women from undergoing initial screening or returning for follow-up after receiving an abnormal result, even though undergoing regular Pap testing is critical to preventing cervical cancer. The report, by Carmen Radecki Breitkopf et al., showed that overall knowledge about Pap testing is low, particularly among low-income and minority women. For more information, click below.
